A 19-year-old man suspected of fraud using the “policeman” method was caught by the police

Police officers from Przemyśl, in cooperation with officers from Wałbrzych in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, detained a 19-year-old who in May this year took approximately PLN 40,000 from an 80-year-old resident of Przemyśl. The woman was convinced that in this way she would help her closest family members. In reality, she fell victim to a "police officer" scam.

The detained 19-year-old resident of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship acted as the so-called "receiver" throughout the entire procedure. The crime with his participation took place at the end of May this year. It was then that the 80-year-old resident of Przemyśl received a landline call. She heard the voice of a man posing as a police officer. He informed the senior citizen that her loved ones had caused a road accident and could avoid criminal liability if the so-called bail was paid. After arranging the details, the 80-year-old handed over approximately PLN 40,000 to the young man who showed up at her apartment door. That was exactly who he was. 19-year-old resident of Lower Silesia. Now he faces up to 8 years in prison.

The young man has already been charged with fraud, and at the beginning of June the District Court in Przemyśl, taking into account the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Przemyśl, imposed a 3-month temporary arrest on the perpetrator .
